It’s a Two for Tuesday!  On Tuesdays, I will feature two party themes.  I will share first a party from several years ago, and then a more recent party.  To start our Two for Tuesday, we travel back eight years to shipmates swabbing the deck, walks down the plank and a hunt fer treasure….Arrrrr!

Caleb’s 4th Birthday

Ok, I seriouslly can’t believe how little my children were.  Time passes so quickly even when the days seem long.  Toddlers turn into tweens.  The days that use to seem challenging now look so simple in retrospect. The most surprising bit of looking back on these parties is realizing the advances in technology.  At the time I took these photos with an expensive camera.  Now my smartphone takes an incredibly better quality photo.  But I digress….back to the party!

The table was the centerpiece of the party, eight years have passed, but I still remember picking out and ordering all the little things for the party. It’s amazing how a trip through photos jogs the memory! (And would you believe that all these items are still available to purchase?!?)

I found these great treasure map sticker scenes at Oriental Trading.  I have used these types of sets for multiple parties over the years and they are always a huge hit with the children. At Oriental Trading I also found the coins and inflatable treasure chest.

Oh my goodness, this cake! I think it was my first time working with fondant. I was so happy with the end result.

Some actions shots from the party, we served chex mix and muddy buddies for snacks. Muddy buddies have always been a favorite for my children. We rarely make them, maybe because they always disappear so quickly? You can find a recipe for muddy buddies here.

All of the pirates needed to pirate gear to wear for the party. Again, Oriental trading was great for finding everything we needed….hats, bandanas, mustaches, and cutlasses with eye patches. And everyone’s sashes were made from strips of red fabric I bought at Joann Fabrics.

OH! Look at the sweet little birthday boy in his buccaneer shirt!

I have no idea why my husband was avoiding a photo, but those cute pirate pennant banners can be found here.

Look at all these no-good swashbuckling scallywags! My wee little Sarah looks likes a cannonball!

I still remember I found these adorable pajamas at Gymboree!
