Part two of my Two for Tuesday….and a more recent party full of pink & frill.
Stella’s 13th Birthday – An Enchanted Prom Birthday Party
We have had the extreme pleasure to host several international students. Stella was our host daughter from Korea who lived with us for 1 year. She loved everything about the American culture and was particularly fascinated about the thought of Prom and formal school dances. But, she was in middle school and too young to attend a Prom. So, a Prom themed birthday party was the next best thing!
I’m not sure if Stella was more excited to have a Prom birthday party or a birthday party that was planned by me. Since she wasn’t my biological daughter, she didn’t know I would really plan a party for her like I would for any of my other children. And, she was over the moon when her wishes came true.
On to the party details…
I often use white or glass pieces for my party set-ups, but this party called for a little more. My friend loaned me the food stands, platters, and pink carriage for this party. She found them all at Hobby Lobby.
The backdrop was simply a metallic sliver table cloth and some pink curtains we had stashed in the linen closet. (You will see these pink curtains popping up in more parties in the weeks to come. We have a light blue set, too which I have used in a few parties. I found them several years ago on clearance at Target.)
The battery operated lights were a great find in Target’s Dollar Spot. I made the globes with candles from vases found at Dollar Tree. I used Modge Podge and iridescent glitter on the inside, and added a battery operated tea light.
Fruit salad in plastic cups fit perfectly on this cupcake tower.
I made little labels that I printed on label paper, then hot glued pink tulle bows to the front of plain paper cups. And, of course, my favorite — paper straws.
For the silhouette, I painted some poster board pink, Modge Podge’d it and sprinkled it with glitter, and then drew and cut out the silhouette girl. I then hot glued on some tulle for the skirt. Isn’t she adorable?
The prom dress sugar cookies were made from my favorite sugar cookie recipe that you can find here. And I found the dress cookie cutter here.
I just love how my cake turned out. Roses and ruffles….perfect for prom.
(Would you believe those beaded necklaces were leftovers I found stashed away from Hannah’s Fancy Nancy Party?!?)
Of course, the girls would each need corsages. I found these on Amazon, and they were absolutely perfect! They tied on with satin ribbons.
I found these sashes on Amazon, too. Stella was the Prom Queen and all her friends were the Prom Court.
And some party punch and these darling silver paper plates.
And now…the Birthday Girl!
The Prom Court…
Very Best Friends…
Our Prom Dinner… she’s 13, so she requested chicken nuggets.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Stella! We love you!
